Description
Les sauterelles, enamelled stoneware jardinere with iridescent reflections and frieze of grasshoppers by Jules Cayette (1882-1953).
Born in Paris in 1882, he returned to his roots at the age of six when his father moved back to Nancy.
Surrounded by family craftsmen, he trained at the Beaux-Arts de Nancy and then became a collaborator of Grüber, giving him a solid experience and the affirmation of his style.
The turning point in his career was the first prize he won at the competition of the Société des Produits Céramiques de Rambervillers in 1906 for his project of jardinières with grasshoppers.
The model was so successful that it was published for many years by Rambervillers.
